Abstract

At present the tourism sector is one of the activities that has a very strategic role in supporting the development of the national economy. To develop this sector the government strives to make plans and various policies that support the progress of this sector. One of these policies is to explore, inventory and develop existing tourism objects as the main attraction for tourists. This research method uses qualitative methods and data analysis using SWOT analysis, where SWOT analysis is used as a formulation of strategy problems for the identification of various factors strategically based on understanding an object. Based on data on the number of tourist visits of the Kutai Kartanegara District Tourism Office in 2014-2017, the number of tourist visits to the Wood Museum has fluctuated. The current condition of the attractions of the Tuah Himba Wood Museum still has several problems including the access of the main road that is not too large, the signs are still limited in number, cleanliness in the museum area and the physical appearance of the museum buildings are poorly maintained.
