Abstract

The problem discussed in this study is the effort to develop Situs Payak as historical tourist destination in Bantul, Yogyakarta. This study aims to determine the development efforts, existing tourist attraction components, and efforts to maintain the existence of tourism in Situs Payak. The research method used in this study is the qualitative method. While the data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews and literature studies. After the data obtained was collected, the data was analyzed by using the SWOT technique. The results of the study show that: Situs Payak is a site that was built in the 9thcentury which is a relic of Hindu religion and used for collecting holy water for prayers and ceremony. The development strategy of Situs Payak can be implemented if there is a good cooperative relationship between the local government, managers and the community. But in its development in terms of facilities, human resources and services are still obstacles. For this reason, it can be concluded that the strategy for developing the Situs Payak can give a positive impact on the regional economic aspects and the preservation of cultural heritage in Bantul, Yogyakarta. With the existing potential, increasing the quality of the number of human resources, improvement in various fields.
