Abstract

One tradition that is part of the culture in Yogyakarta is the Nawu Sendang Seliran tradition which is a ritual carried out by the courtiers and the traditions of the people around the Tomb of the Kings of Mataram in Kotagede Yogyakarta. This tradition is a ritual of draining or cleaning a large pool or spring. This procession is carried out at the Kotagede Mataram King's Tomb complex which is still in a complex with the Kotagede Mataram Grand Mosque. This tradition has been developed into a tourist attraction since 2009. Before it was developed into a tourist attraction, this tradition was only limited to draining or cleaning it. But after being developed into a tourist attraction in 2009 then a series of supporting events were added, such as the Gunungan and Jodhang caravans brought by the courtiers. Jodhang which was intended to carry equipment for the Nawu Sendang Seliran procession, and gunungan containing Kotagede specialties, vegetables and fruits.
