Abstract

The problems discussed in this study are development efforts, how the role of the community, and how the marketing method in Kalama fortress is a historical tourism in the City of Ternate. This study aims to determine the development efforts that have been made, how the role of the community and marketing efforts at the Kalamata fort. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. While the data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and literature study. after the data obtained is collected then data analysis is performed using SWOT techniques. The results showed that: the Kalamata fort was one of the historic buildings of Portuguese heritage built by Francisco Serao in 1540. Development efforts, how the role of the community and how to market it in the fortress of Kalamata were carried out if there was good cooperation between the local government, managers and society. But in its development in terms of Human Resources, facilities, facilities, and still an obstacle and become the task of many parties. And its marketing is still fully supported by the Government service of culture and tourism. For this reason, it can be concluded that the development of the Kalamata fort can have a positive impact in the regional economic aspects as well as the surrounding community and the preservation of historic buildings in the City of Ternate. With the existing potential, increasing the quality of the number of human resources, completeness of supporting tourism characteristics, and several efforts will have an impact on increasing Domestic Tourists and Foreign Tourists
