Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the effect of job opportunities on the interest in continuing to study at a tourism college, (2) the effect of parents' income on the interest in continuing their studies at a tourism university, (3) the influence of self-potential on the interest in continuing to study at a university. tourism, and (4) the influence of parents' income, job opportunities, and self�potential on the interest in continuing to study at a tourism university. This research is a survey research. The population in this study were all students of class XII SLTA in Sleman Regency in the academic year 2020/2021 as many as 1,334 students. The sampling technique used is proportionate stratified random sampling with a sample size of 300 students. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression. The results showed that: (1) there was a positive and significant effect of work opportunities on the interest in continuing to study at a tourism university, as evidenced by the t-value of 5.150; significance value 0.000 <0.05; and a regression coefficient of 0.240; (2) there is a positive and significant influence of parents' income on their interest in continuing their studies at tourism tertiary institutions, as evidenced by the t value of 6.922; significance value 0.000 <0.05; and a regression coefficient of 0.445; (3) there is a positive and significant influence on self-potential on the interest in continuing to study at a tourism university, as evidenced by the t-value of 7.136; significance value 0.000 <0.05; and a regression coefficient of 0.332; and (4) there is a positive and significant influence on job opportunities, parents' income, and self-potential on the interest in continuing to study at a tourism university, as evidenced by the calculated F value of 87.118 with a significance of 0.000 <0.05.
