Abstract

This research aims to explain abouIstana Mangkubumi Development Strategy aa tourism destination at Kotawaringin Barahow of the community towards tourismdevelopment in Istana Mangkubumi, as well of government role towards the developmenof Istana Mangkubumi, Kotawaringin Barat. The method used in this research is aqualitative descriptive method. With analysismatrix SWOT. Kotawaringin Barat District has avarious of natural and cultural tourismresources, which can be a major attractionas a tourism destination. One of them isIstana Mangkubumi which is a historical asset that still survive and need to beintroduced and preserved. The role of the community has not been maximized due to lack of informationabout tourism, hopefully in the future thegoverment can make counseling andtraining continuously about tourism andgive education about PokDarWis (Kelompok Sadar Wisata). The government has goodenough in terms of adding facilities likeparking area, garbage bins, chair for rest and sit, and the public toilets and do themaintanence of Istana Mangkubumi, but thegovernment need to maximizing promotionof Istana Mangkubumi and do more actionabout realizing the idea for developingIstana Mangkubumi with the operational.
