Abstract

Banyuwangi is one of the regencies that has unique characteristics with its culture. From the complexity of culture, became a magnet life of Banyuwangi tourism. Through the cultural event programs, the government is able to reap the beauty of Banyuwangi culture. One of them is Kuwung Festival. Kuwung Festival is an art showcase, and the diverse traditions of Banyuwangi community that displayed in a parade as cultural consolidation in a multicultural society. A number of folklore, traditions, and rituals of each ethnic group will be packed in a fragment parade hosted by representatives of each sub-district in Banyuwangi with different plays but still in one theme for the preservation of Banyuwangi culture. Performing arts and culture titled Purnama Bumi Blambangan, Payung Agung Prabu Tawangalun, Agunge Wong Agung Wilis, Jogo Pati Bela Pati, Bedah Alas Tirto Gondo that displayed by Banyuwangi community is accordance with the theme "Mekar Semebyar Taman Sarine Nusantara" With a strategy focused on promotion, coordination and community approach, the Kuwung Festival can provide assistance to Banyuwangi District.
