Abstract

Culture has become part of tourist attractions. Besides introducing Indonesian’s culture, it is also necessary efforts to preserve Indonesian culture in order to be used as tourist attraction sustainly. One of Indonesian’s culture is Kesenian Gajah-gajahan which is from Kabupaten Ponorogo, East Java. Research approach using descriptive qualitative research method. The subjects of the research is artist of Kesenian Gajah-gajahan, elephant statue artist, Ponorogo local communities, tourist adn govenrment. Data collection used questionnares, interviews and observation. Then the data is reduced, displayed and making conclusion. The result of the research shows that Kesenian Gajah-gajahan can be developed and conserved as culture tourist attractions of Kabupaten Ponorogo. It can be done with some acts, such as, involve local community, capacity building of human resources, organizations empowerment and promotion strategies.
