Abstract

Surakarta city is one of the cities that become tourism destinations in central java province. the city has an interesting tourism potential ranging from cultural tourism, nature tourism, and special interest tours. But the city is known for the culture that still exists among the people. Especially will be heritage that until now become the identity of Surakarta City itself is Kasunanan and Mangkunegaran Palace. Besides The Palace there are also other historical relics found in Surakarta is Kereta Uap Jaladara This train is the ancient steam train owned PT KAI converted into a tourist train that is managed by the Transportation Office of Surakarta. Kereta Uap Jaldara steam train is still operating in order to become an alternative Cultural Tourim in Surakarta. The purpose of this study is to know the strategies undertaken by the government and the people of Surakarta in preserving Kereta Uap Jaladara for future.
