Abstract

Abstract: Weaving is a skill that is taught down and down to keep it preserved. Each tribe has its own uniqueness in terms of patterns and motifs. Each individual is expected to be proud of wearing a cloth from his or her own tribe because each woven fabric is unique and none is identic. Motives or patterns that exist are a manifestation of the daily life of the community and have a close enough emotional ties with the community in each tribe. In addition, by weaving can be an indicator for a woman to be ready and deserve to be married, for the man who became an indicator is to have fields and can grow crops. Woven cloth is also used as a welcome pengelungan for guests who are considered honorable, therefore no wonder at the time of SAIL KOMODO 2014 in the Belu region of East Nusa Tenggara officials and foreign tourists to get woven cloth shawl as a sign of welcoming and honor.
