Abstract

Trenggalek Regency is a Regency located on the southern coast of East Java Province. One of the cultural tourist attractions in Trenggalek Regency is the art of Jaranan Turangga Yaksa which is a typical dance of Trenggalek Regency created by the people of Trenggalek and has its own characteristics. This research was conducted using qualitative research specifications and produced descriptive data by conducting interviews, observation questionnaires, documentation and triangulation. This research was conducted to determine the extent of the efforts made by the government and the people of Trenggalek Regency in preserving Jaranan Turangga Yaksa to increase tourist visits in Trengalek Regency, East Java. The government and the community have a very important role in the effort to preserve Turangga Yaksa. At present the government's efforts towards Turangga Yaksa such as facilities, support for human resources, and marketing are still lacking.
