Abstract

From these results it can be concludedthat the emergence of the culturalbackground in the Masangin is associatedwith ritual topo bisu, performed on the nightof 1 Shura to welcome the new year in theJavanese calendar. Form of activity is theone who will do it blindfolded with blackcloth, hen walked toward the gap betweenthe banyan tree. Regarding the culturalprocession Masangin was walking betweentwo banyan trees. This research use qualitative method.The collection techniques of data used areobservation, interview, documentation andquisioner as supporting data. The collecteddata is from several sources, such as : theGoverment, and the people those nearby his(old) house. This research is results some of thingsthat could be the key for the conservation ofMasangin in Yogyakarta city, whereby thatthings is not built yet between. Such, thestrong of cooperation and commitmentbetween goverment and the local people isneeded to revive Masangin.
