Abstract

Coconut Island is the outermost island of West Nusa Tenggara pronvinces, located on the eastern and directly adjacent to the province of East Nusa Tenggara. This research would like to know the strategy undertaken by the Department of Culture and tourism Bima West Nusa Tenggara in conducting or pursue the development strategy of tourist areas to increase tourist visits. This research uses qualitative research methods and uses data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documents. Data processing techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Then the data in the analysis using SWOT Analysis. Bima Regency Government has priority of tourism development strategy in general for all tourism object in Coconut Island that is as follows: 1) supervision of natural resources sustainability, 2) improvement of tourist comfort, 3) promotion of tourism product promotion, 4) improvement of quality human resources of local people, 5) capital policy for local people in developing tourism-supportive enterprises, 6) sustainable public transportation procurement, and 7) counseling and guidance for local communities to engage directly in tourism services and maintenance of natural and environmental resources Coconut Island Bima. Community Participation in Supporting Coconut Island Tourism Development in Bima West Nusa Tenggara is as a volunteer manager and as a tourist.
