Abstract

Pongkar Beach is one of the beaches located in the Karimun districts, Riau Island. This research aims to identify the tourism potensial of Pongkar Beach to be developed, the role of government and society, as well as strategies taken in the development of Pongkar Beach as a tourist attraction so interestingto be visited by tourists. Pongkar Beach is still managed by the community and the village government. The type of research is qualitative. Methods used in this study are questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. The analytical technique used in this research is SWOT analysis based on the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats that found in Pongkar Beach. The result of this research the development at Pongkar Beach is very good, the role of the community is also very good and the government participates in increasing tourist visits in Pongkar Beach.
