Abstract

Geopark Merangin is a national Geopark at Merangin Regency, Jambi. Geopark Meangin has Flora and Fauna fossil of more than 300 million years and become the oldest in Asia. This study discusses the development efforts of tourism attraction to make it better and to attract visitors. This research uses descriptive qualitative method , the data collected by using observation technique, interview, document, and questionnaire . Then tea ta is prossed using SWOT analysis , sampling of interviews taken from the community,visitors, managers, and government. From this research we can know that government has done a lot of effort to evelop Geopark Merangin as tourism attraction in Merangin regency through various well-run programs, beside it,local communities also welcomed the development of this area as tourism attraction. The development of Geopark Merangin also usefull and bring the positive impact for local community’s economic around Geopark Merangin
