Abstract

Sampiung Dance is a traditional dance originating from western Java. In ancient times the dance was performed for the purposes of various important ceremonies such as Seren Taun, Harvest Party, Ngaruat, Rebo Wekasan, even on the state holiday as in the celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day. Research method that writer use in this scientific article is qualitative method. Qualitative research that emphasizes the quality or the most omportant thing of the nature of a service goods. The main factor in the preservation of Sampiung Dance is that with the influence of globalization to make people change. Culture which is an ancestral heritage and is something that should be kept and preserved over time to disappear, by awakening the public to want to learn the culture, either just know or can also participate in practicing it in everyday life and Participate if any activities in the framework of cultural preservation
