Abstract

Rampak Kendang dance is a traditional dance originating from Bogor, West Java. Kendang is the main musical instrument in this traditional dance. Rampak Kendang Dance is a typical sundanese dance that is jaipong dance combined with playing kendang instrument. Rampak Kendang Dance has a philosophy that sundanese people live in harmony. The method use in the research is qualitative. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, and documentation. The government an local society work together in the preservation of Rampak Kendang Dance in Bogor. The government in Bogor provides facilities to preserve Rampak Kendang Dance through annual festivals for the society.
