Abstract

Batik Mandala Borobudur is located in Borobudur District, Magelang Regency. This batik is managed by a batik group called Chatra. All batik makers are the people around who live in the area. In this study, the authors used qualitative methods. This method is used to examine the condition of natural objects by conducting data collection in triangulation which is a combination of observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the research, it is understood that all forms of goverment and community roles are needed to support the preservation of Batik Mandala Borobudur. Besides, batik is also considered to be able to become the root of cultural preservation in Indonesia. Especially in the Borobudur region and the surrounding area has the potential to build ancestral culture.
