Abstract

Surakarta is known as one of the core of Javanese culture because it has traditionally been one of the centers of politics and the development of Javanese traditions. Sriwedari Puppet People is one of the many cultures that can be found in Surakarta which must be preserved. This study uses the perspective of qualitative method analysis. The subjects of the study were managers, tourists, Surakarta City people and the government. Not only from the government sector in this case the Surakarta City Cultural Service. The results showed that the government was very concerned about the existence of ancestral cultures. Many efforts have been made by the government to preserve it. The community also plays an active role in the existence of performances.
