Abstract

Kastela fortress or São João Batista (Portuguese), Ciudad del Rosario (Spanish) or Gammalamma (Ternate and Dutch Language) is the first fort made by colonial (Portuguese) in the land of Maluku, Indonesia. The fort was also a witness to the resistance of the Ternate people in expelling invaders in the Land of Maluku. this study uses qualitative research methods with descriptive techniques this method describes the components of tourism in the form of infrastructure, facilities, accessibility, and potential. study the historical building site of the castle of Kastela which is said to be the largest fortress in Asia in its time. Kastela fortress is an icon of the Kastela village where most visitors come to study and analyze history during the Portuguese occupation and make the castle as a heritage tourism destination.
