Abstract

The uniqueness of tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta compared to other places lies in its rich traditions, culture and nature. In this case, efforts to present more lively and interesting literacy tourism in the city of Yogyakarta are becoming increasingly relevant. The application of the curatorial concept as a strategy for developing literacy tourism has been applied in various institutions, including the Diorama Arsip Jogja, as one of the literacy destinations in Yogyakarta. This study aims to examine the application of the curatorial concept as a strategy in increasing literacy tourism visits to the Diorama Arsip Jogja. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation of managers, archivists, staff and tour guides. The results of the study showed that the curatorial concept was applied through thematic and chronological arrangement of historical narratives, the use of audio-visual media, and the active involvement of tour guides in conveying information. This application creates an immersive and educational experience that can increase interest in visits, especially among students. The results of visit data show a significant increase since the end of 2022 until now after the curatorial application was carried out in a structured manner. Based on these results, it is concluded that the application of the curatorial concept can increase literacy tourism visits to the Diorama Arsip Jogja as an attractive and highly educational literacy tourism destination with a percentage result of 19.61% in 2022 covering 2 months and 100% in 2023, 2024, and 2025 covering the first three months.
