Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of Arsik Goldfish in the context of culinary tourism on Samosir Island, North Sumatra. The author explains the importance of local cuisine in attracting tourists, especially Arsik Goldfish which is a typical Batak dish. The formulation of the problem and research objectives are outlined to raise awareness of cultural values and culinary tourism potential. The literature review chapter discusses theories related to culinary tourism and tourism potential, as well as relevant literature, emphasizing that Arsik Goldfish is not just food, but also a cultural symbol with deep meaning in Batak society. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection through interviews and observations in Tomok Village, Samosir. This study involved tourists as informants to gain perspectives on Arsik Goldfish and their experiences. The results of the study indicate that Arsik Goldfish has the potential to become an icon of culinary tourism on Samosir Island. Although it has great potential, challenges in the competition of halal and non-halal culinary. The author recommends several strategies for development, including education for culinary entrepreneurs and holding culinary festivals to increase the visibility of Arsik Goldfish as an icon of culinary tourism.
