Abstract

Borobudur Art Market Village was developed as part of an effort to strengthen the creative economy sector based on culture by providing space for craft activities, performing arts, and micro and small businesses. This study aims to analyze the economic impact caused by the existence of Borobudur Art Market Village on the economy of local communities around the Borobudur Temple area. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation of business actors, market managers, and the local community. The research was conducted in March-April 2025. The results of the study indicate that the existence of the art market has had a positive impact in the form of creating new jobs, improving skills, and more structured local business opportunities. However, this study also found challenges in the form of community dependence on the number of tourist visits, unequal access to trade facilities, and limited digital promotion and marketing. This study recommends the need for a more inclusive and sustainable development approach, through equitable community empowerment and economic diversification to strengthen local economic resilience in the future.
