Abstract

The Ambarawa Railway Museum is one of the historical tourist destinations in Central Java that has an important value in cultural preservation, education, and community economic empowerment. This research aims to analyze the management of MKAA as historical tourism with a focus on the aspects of artifact preservation, local community empowerment, and service quality improvement. The research method used is qualitative with observation techniques, semi-structured interviews with museum managers and staff, and documentation. The results show that the preservation aspect is carried out through the maintenance of steam and diesel locomotive collections that are more than a century old, routine restoration programs, and the presentation of supporting artifacts such as machinists' uniforms, Morse communication tools, and ancient tickets. However, information delivery is still limited to conventional boards, so digital innovation is needed to enhance the educational experience of visitors. In terms of community empowerment, MKAA involves local MSMEs to provide food, drinks and souvenirs. It also collaborates with communities and local governments to organize events such as cultural festivals and National Education Day promos. Promotional efforts through official social media have proven effective in attracting new and returning tourists. Service quality aspects are shown through supporting facilities such as parking areas, toilets, waiting rooms, seating areas, and separate counters for museum and tourist train tickets.
