Abstract

Kuyon Beach has unique features and beauty, including a stretch of sandy coastline directly adjacent to rice fields, and a rocky beach on the western side known as Lembah Watu Pawon. This area is unique due to the coral rock located in the middle of the sea, shaped like a "Pawon," which in Indonesian means a cooking stove from ancient times. Additionally, there is a beautiful sunset view in the evening. This research aims to explore information about the current tourist destination of Kuyon Beach and to understand the development programs being implemented. Kuyon Beach has recently been developed by the Tourism Office of Trenggalek Regency, boasting advantages such as the potential for natural and cultural attractions that are interconnected. However, there are issues regarding the conditions of amenities, accessibility, activities, and ancillary services, which are still relatively limited, and studies on tourism development have not been extensively conducted. The methodology used in this research is qualitative, employing descriptive analysis with a phenomenological approach, utilizing triangulation data collection techniques. The results indicate that the condition of the 5A framework starts with attractions, which have outstanding potential in terms of natural beauty. Amenities in the beach area are available but still basic. Accessibility is hindered by road infrastructure in the destination area and the limited availability of public transportation. Activities such as snorkeling, banana boat rides, and jet skiing are still not available, and supporting services are limited in providing cleanliness and safety for tourists. Efforts for development by the management of Kuyon Beach, local communities, and the government include focusing on exploring village potential packaged into a single tourism package, improving facilities (repairing toilets, providing clean water, waste and litter management, and transitioning parking areas for four-wheeled vehicles), enhancing infrastructure (road widening, adding road signs, optimizing road repairs), and increasing coastal activities while prioritizing safety aspects. Additionally, there is a push for visitor management governance (limiting the number of visitors, monitoring visitors, and providing security complaint posts). With this destination analysis, it is hoped to serve as a reference for efforts in sustainable tourism development.
