Abstract

This study aims to describe Batik Semarangan, the role of the community, the role of government, and the preservation strategies of Batik Semarangan. This type of research uses a qualitative approach that produces descriptive through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The result showed that characteristics of Batik Semarangan with motifs like Lawang Sewu, Tugu Muda, Warak Ngendhog, Asem arang. The role of community is to preserve by participating in the productivity of Batik Semarangan. The role of government is promotion and assisting in human resources training. Its conservation strategy by increasing promotion and implementing batik learning polices in schools in Semarang City.
