Abstract

Art Rontek comes from Pacitan, Rontek itself is created from the habits of the Pacitan community and become a culture that captivate the hearts of citizens and tourists who come. The purpose of research from the author to know about how the role of government to the art of Rontek, how the role of society and how the strategy to presrve the art of Rontek that has the potential to become a cultural icon in Pacitan. The author uses qualitative methods, obtaining data by way of interviews and questionnaires. The results of the research authors replied that the role of governmentin Rontek is still less than the maximum, they only help through promotions and local comunities that strongly support the art of Rontek to continue to grow and conservation strategy can be emphasized for promotion, improvement of human resources and establishing official studio.
