Abstract

Selayar Regency has so many hidden tourism potentials that should be explored and managed well in order to create the betterment toward region and also nation. This research is a proof that Takabonerate island is such an asset of Rembang regency. It has so many tourism potentials (natural and manmade sectors) that worth to be explored and shown to the world. The research was done by qualitative method and SWOT analysis to analyze the data. The analysis resulted to the answers that this village is ready and worth to be expanded as tourism destination especially marine tourism. This development will create a multiplier effect toward the improvement of Selayar regency in terms of tourism sector, economical sector and so on and so forth. Therefore, understanding that the development-plan of changing Takabonerate island as tourism destination based of marine tourism will be the starting point of the new tourism concept establishment in Selayar regency.
