Abstract

Special Region of Yogyakarta is one of the Provinces in Indonesia that has a long history and full of traditions that developed into a culture that has been rooted for a long time. Its culture makes Special Region of Yogyakarta as one of the regions that has the potential to become a tourist destination. Culture has many forms, one of which is traditional food used in traditional ceremonies. One of the traditional food that is still preserved is Ayam Ingkung, precisely in Kampung Ingkung, Pajangan, Bantul. The purpose of this research is to find out the meaning / philosophy contained in the use of Ayam Ingkung as ubo rampe of traditional ceremonies, and how to preserve Ayam Ingkung in Kampung Ingkung, Pajangan, Bantul. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative method, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The result showed that the name of Ayam Ingkung was due to its curved shape and backward looking head shape which symbolizes that humans must always remember what they have done so that they always have gratitude for something they already have. The development of Ayam Ingkung as a culinary that elevates Javanese culture, which is now sold commercially in Kampung Ingkung, Pajangan, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta, of course making it easy for tourists / visitors to get Ayam ingkung. In maintaining the existence of Ayam Ingkung must be supported by more showing the cultural and philosophical side contained in it, so that the initial attraction of Ayam Ingkung as a cultural icon in Kampung Ingkung, Pajangan, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta can continue to be preserved and attract more tourists / visitors in terms of culture.
