Abstract
This study aims to empirically examine the effect of local cultural events on the increase in the number of tourists in a case study of cultural events, namely the degree of Sorosutan Culture event. This study also wants to know the factors of local cultural events that have the most influence on tourist interest. This analysis uses independent variables namely local cultural events and the dependent variable is tourist interest. The sample of this research was the tourists of the Sorosutan Culture Degree event which was domiciled outside the city of Yogyakarta. The sample is done by simple random sampling method. Data collection was carried out with a questionnaire distributed to tourists. The Sorosutan Culture Degree event had 258 questionnaires. The statistical method uses product moment analysis, by testing the bivariate correlation test hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that local cultural events significantly influence the interest of tourists taken by tourists. The relationship between local cultural events and tourist interest in the Sorosutan cultural degree event was stated positively, this can be seen from the product moment correlation coefficient of 0.417. Based on the results of the correlation analysis it can be seen that the determinant coefficient is equal to R^2 = 0.174, this shows that the contribution of local cultural events to tourist interest is 17.4%. The most influential factors of local cultural events on tourist interest ranged from 0.242 to 0.376. The most influential factor in the local cultural event that has the highest correlation is the Art-form festival.
