Abstract

In this article, researchers use qualitative methods related to the development of Bantar tourist village, in collecting data conducted by observation, interview, quisioner, and literature study. The data has been obtained then the author analyzed using SWOT analisys. From the results of research conducted by researchers on the development of Bantar tourist village area can be concluded that the development of Bantar tourist village as a tourist attraction in Kulon Progo described as a chronology of management activities that further improve the quality of tourism components. Viewed from the characteristics of its development that involves community participation, utilizing local potentials in the provision of tourism facilities, activities that support environmental and cultural preservation, it can be said that the development of Bantar tourist village has provided economic benefits to the community, but also provide benefits for cultural preservation and the natural environment. Based on the research, it is known that the development of Bantar tourist village as a tourist attraction in Kulon Progo has been running well, the role as community facilitator has been fulfilled by the Government, but the role of community assistance has not been maximally implemented. This can be reflected from some tourist facilities that have been built but not received adequate maintenance until the condition is severely damaged. That is, this facilitation activity has not been accompanied by assistance to the community to have adequate capacity to be able to develop the facility independently.
