Abstract

Pulau Petong is a small island located in the South side of the Batam Island, Riau Archipelago and parts of the Galang district. Pulau Petong is a heaven for you who like diving, snorkeling, hopping island, fishing and other water sports activities. Almost every point of its waters, overgrown with all kinds of coral reefs that are still preserved its beauty. This research using qualitative method research with observation, interview and documentation as data collection techniques. The development strategic leading to the utilization of the existing potential like snorkelling hopping island, camping and diving, improved with increasing the facilities like toilet, accomodation from the city of Batam to Hasim Harbor and marketed through the increased of good promotion. Using SWOT analysis will minimizing the weakness and the threats which are they are the main obstacle like transportation, in the other side maximizing the potential and the opportunities with increasing the facilities and promotion. That’s why the role of government, community and the management are very needed to make Pulau Petong become a sustainable tourism destination in Batam.
