Abstract
Surakarta Indonesia is famous for its batik fabric (Indonesian traditional cloth), palaces, and Klewer market. For tourism, the existence of Kasunanan palace of Hadiningrat and Mangkunegaran palace has made solo the axis of history, art, and culture which has selling point. This selling point manifested through ancient buildings, the protected kingdom’s tradition, the magnificent art works, and local norm that is inseparable from cultural and palace spiritual values. Qualitative research method is a research method based on postpositivism philosophy, used to check on natural object condition, as opposed to experiment where the researcher is as a key instrument, data collection technique is done by triangulation (Combined), data analysis is inductive / qualitative, and the results of qualitative research more emphasize the meaning of the generalization Data analysis of the authors found the answer to the formulation of the problem there are 3 questions and efforts of the government and society in preserving Panggung Songgo Buwono as a tourism relic in Surakarta central Java. The results of the research to efforts the government and society in preserving, and maintenance provision of tourist support facilities, promotion product, marketing, increase awareness will society is very important in tourism.
