Abstract

Tourism has an important role in economic development in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, especially in Kulon Progo Regency. Kulon Progo has interesting tourist attractions, namely Gunung Ijo nature tourism. The potential of Gunung Ijo nature tourism is very good to increase tourist visits in Kulon Progo. But various kinds of obstacles faced in the development of Gunung Ijo natural tourism, ranging from tourism actors themselves to the government. This research uses qualitative methods. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires as supporting data. The data collected also comes from various sources, such as: the government, the surrounding community, and visitors. From this study resulted in several things that are key to the development of Gunung Ijo nature tourism to increase tourist visits in Kulon Progo Regency, namely revive community resources around tourism objects in order to create a permanent organizational structure. This is intended so that the government will also help develop Gunung Ijo nature tourism.
