Abstract

‘Pemukiman Cina Tua Terapung’ is Senggarang's oldest Chinatown village, located in Tanjungpinang City. In ancient times, the Chinese community built this settlement. The majority of the citizens are ethnic Chinese who live with other ethnicities such as Malays and Bugis. However, as a because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the amount of tourists has dramatically decreased; most tourists are foreign tourists from China, Malaysia, and Singapore. The author utilizes qualitative research in her research. Observation, interviews with locals in the Senggarang region, and analysis of the data such as SWOT are used to collect data. According on the result of the research, it can be concluded that this ‘Pemukiman Cina Tua’ has a huge potential, such as many gods statues, there are several old temples and pagodas, unique local husese architectural buildings, historical stories and beautiful sea views. However, due to the low level of human resources, the lack of cooperation between parties and the less than optimal promotion of course hinder the development of this tourist attraction coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic. So there is a need for a development strategy to increase the number of tourist visits to Chinatown Village destinations in this Covid-19 pandemic era. Such as: the need for promotion on social media, community empowerment as tourism actors and increasing cooperation between parties.
