Abstract

Sleman zalacca farmers face the same problem every year, namely prices plummeted in the market every harvest. Efforts need to be made to push back salak pondoh as the Sleman Regency icon as a superior product. This study aims to describe the implementation of the community-based Sleman Salak Festival in Sleman Regency and its benefits for the salak pondoh farmers in Sleman. This study uses qualitative research methods with a case study approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. Interviews were conducted with the Sleman Tourism Office, Sleman Regency Government Public Relations, Pondoh Salak Farmers, Sleman Prima Salada Farmers Association Chairperson, Sleman Salak Festival organizing chair, Sleman Tourism Promotion Board (BPPS), head of farmer groups in Sleman, and head of the Women Farmers Group ( KWT) in Sleman. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman analysis includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of the Sleman Salak Festival based on community-based ASEAN standards (2016), with the benefits of the indicators include covering the economy, human resource capabilities, and the environment, including: (1) Community ownership and management include the effectiveness and transparency of management by increasing monthly meetings between farmer groups, recognition and legitimacy in notarial deeds, openness and effective management, and partnerships that are in collaboration with mass media, farmer groups, and the Agriculture Service. (2) Contributions to social welfare include maintaining dignity and human dignity by being proud to be a salak farmer who can make zalacca as a fruit icon from Sleman which is very well known, fair distribution of benefits and costs with almost all farmer groups participating in the 2016 salak festival , related to the regional economy by increasing synergy between salak farmers and buyers (buyers) as well as between salak farmers and salak farmers groups, and maintaining cultural integrity and enriching valuable cultural traditions by participating in 2016 MURI salak activities by providing cultural performances in the form of dance or art in the form of a replica derived from salak pondoh. (3) Environmental Sustainability and Improvement, including the preservation of natural resources, farmers are increasingly concerned about zalacca plants, the environment, cultivation, and more rejuvenating zalacca, as well as conservation activities to improve the environment with organic waste entering the garden to become fertilizer, plastic waste has been separated and no plastic waste can enter the garden. Processed products use packaging according to size. (4) Encouragement for interaction between local communities and visitors with Guest and local community interactions: Farmers gain experience in promotion after meeting festival participants both fellow farmers groups and with buyers and the sustainability of community-based tourism products: Following the festival will increase insight in the promotion of salak fruit. (5) Quality tour services and guides with certainty of quality and expertise of local guides: Good quality of zalacca is needed so that competition in quality of zalacca is more prominent and certainty of quality of tours and activities: Zalacca can also be made a tour package by making agrotourism. (6) Certainty of quality food and beverage services with quality food and beverage service providers: At the 2016 salak festival, the audience was served free zalacca food and quality management of food and beverage services: packaging using quality media.
